Ellijay Mushrooms Farm Volunteer Work Day

Our Saturday November 14 dinner has a new purpose.

The farm needs help, and FOODWORK can’t sit idle when we know they are in need.

Flash flooding hit Ellijay Mushrooms Wednesday night, and much of the North Georgia Mountain region is devastated. An unprecedented 10 inches of rain fell in under 6 hours. Howard and his team are assessing the damage and after seeing things in the daylight, the farm is going to need hard working hands to make it operational again and to resume tours.

Howard needs at least 12 volunteers to help lay and spread mulch, clean mud off of the shed by the gem mining station—and pretty much everything—remove debris that washed in, repair/remove fencing, re-beautify the garden, level the fire pit area, restring lights, and just general pick up after a devastating storm.

This Sunday November 8th

11am-2pm at Ellijay Mushrooms Farm

2269 Old Flat Branch Rd. Ellijay, GA 3054

If you can spare any time and effort on Sunday, we would love to see you. If you’re coming from Atlanta and need a ride, please let us know. Please fill out the volunteer form and let us know your availability, if you can lift 30 pounds, and please bring work gloves, boots, and any rake and/or shovel you have.
